Bhilai Steel Plant

The Bhilai Steel Plant located about 10 km from the campus is a symbol of India’s industrial strength. It showcases advanced steel production processes and world-class manufacturing. A visit offers a unique blend of technology, education, and well-maintained surroundings. Beyond its industrial significance, the plant’s well-planned township and lush green surroundings make it an intriguing destination to explore the harmonious blend of industry and nature.

Dongargarh

Dongargarh is a major tourist and pilgrimage destination around 65 km from the campus. It known for the Maa Bamleshwari temple atop a 1600-foot hill, also called Badi Bamleshwari. A second temple, Chhoti Bamleshwari, lies ½ km below. The temple attracts thousands during the Navratras of Kavar and Chaitra, with 24-hour fairs and displays by companies. An added attraction is the state’s only passenger ropeway.

Gangrel Dam

Gangrel Dam, also known as Ravishankar Dam, is a popular tourist destination in Dhamtari district, located about 15 km from Dhamtari and approximately 70 km from IIT Bhilai campus. Built across the Mahanadi River, the dam features a large reservoir offering water sports, beautiful islands, and abundant flora and fauna. During the monsoon season, the area becomes particularly picturesque, making it a must-visit spot for nature lovers and adventure enthusiasts.

Maitri Bagh

Maitri Bagh is a popular zoo and park located in Bhilai, known for its lush gardens and the famous musical fountain. It is approximately 10 km from IIT Bhilai campus. It features a variety of animals, including tigers, lions, and other species, making it a family-friendly destination. The park also offers boat rides on a large lake, adding to its appeal as a relaxing recreational spot

Waterfalls – Chitrakote, Ghatarani, Siyadevi

Often referred to as the "Niagara of India," Chitrakote Waterfall is one of the widest waterfalls in India, located in the Bastar region, about 300 km from the campus. This breathtaking natural wonder is nestled amidst the majestic grandeur of the Vindhya ranges. Cascading down a 100-foot drop on the Indravati River, the waterfall is surrounded by lush green forests, creating a mesmerizing spectacle of mist and rainbows. Closer to the campus are Ghatarani Waterfall, at a distance of 75 kilometers, and Siyadevi Waterfall, located 66 kilometers away
