The Department of Mathematics at IIT Bhilai was established in 2016, with a focus on fostering excellence in teaching and high-quality research. Mathematics, as the cornerstone of scientific inquiry, plays a pivotal role in addressing global challenges and unifying various branches of science and technology.
Since its inception, the department has prioritized the production of engineers equipped with modern mathematical tools and a profound understanding of real-world and engineering problems. In 2019-20, the department proudly introduced the Master of Science (M.Sc.) program in Mathematics and Computing, complemented by Ph.D. programs spanning various research areas of Mathematics. Efforts are underway to develop robust infrastructure to foster innovative research opportunities and integrate modern teaching methodologies at the new campus.
